Being resilient in the face of Corona
Hello all,
I know you all are exhausted reading all these emails. I just wanted you all to know what's going on here and I've included a treat if you read to the end.
Stan and I have been diligently cleaning in the face of this outbreak. I am trying to see only 1 healthy client every 1.5 to 2 hours in order to thoroughly clean everything touched during the sessions. So far anyone feeling unwell has not come in, and anyone who comes in symptomatic will be sent home with care and compassion.
I am also:
*Taking my temperature 2x a day (at any sign of a temperature I will self isolate for 2 weeks)
*Only traveling from home to resils and the grocery store (still looking for toliet paper)
*Practicing social distancing except with clients and my husband
My goal is to minimize the risk to you all as much as possible but I realize I can not completely eliminate it. I absolutely understand if you don't want to come in and will waive any cancellation fees and offer to reschedule as many times as you need. These are tricky times. Lots of uncertainty. Uncertainty is my nemesis. I regularly deal with anxiety. It creeps into many of my thoughts. Thoughts of self doubt, distracting fear that takes my mind through a roller coaster of feelings. Its normal to have fear and anxiety during times like these. When I am anxious I try to treat it as a useful friend and understand it as best as I can. I've included a link at the end of this email to an incredible guided meditation that has been a powerful ally in the past.
It's going to be a bumpy ride with some unexpected turns but we are all in this together. Its not going to be comfortable but it will end. I am here to help in any way I can. Let me be a resource. Please reach out if you need help and I will do my best. I will stay open to help you as long as I am healthy. Stress like this can certainly take a toll on the body.
This virus and the containment measures are going to be tough for small businesses, especially ones that can not work remotely or deliver their services. Massage and hands on therapy will be hit hard. Consider supporting your local businesses with gift cards. Take time to write reviews. Like and follow on social media. Every little bit will help your favorite businesses weather this.
I will also be working on some video stretching/movement content to keep you busy until this all blows over. Stay tuned. I have some more fun plans for the future and will roll everything out once the coast is clear. I'm also working on a new specialty certification as a clinical rehabilitative specialist through Whitney Lowe. The training challenges me to rethink many of the issues you all come in with and come up with more focused strategies. So far I am really happy with the results.
I wish you well. Hope you stay healthy and know you can be resilient!
Thank you for your time,
Devon
