How do you eat an elephant? ... One bite at a time. Perfect advice from a Facebook friend as I looked out my window from my hotel in Chamonix, France at the enormous massif, Mont Blanc. We were supposed to climb it the next day. I wrote on Facebook something to the effect of, this mountain is huge and seems impossible. A comment popped up almost immediately under my post: "How do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time." He was right. Focusing on the individual steps made the enormous task seem so much more manageable. That was 10 years ago.
Now I'm at it again. My new husband and I are planning our honeymoon. Most of you are probably thinking, a tropical vacation or trip to Europe or some other beautiful relaxing place. Those places wouldn't work for us. We wanted a challenge. So naturally we looked to the mountains and settled on a guided trip up Mt. Rainier, a wild and mysterious place that would test us.
We are at the beginning of our journey before we have taken even the first step or first "bite". I invite you all to follow along as we train and prepare for this climb. I plan on writing and documenting all along the way. I would love to hear your stories of adventure and facing challenges.
Climbing a mountain isn't the only way to find adventure. Adventure is all around us. Down a road we have never taken. Up a new trail in the woods and even trying out something new that scares you
. I encourage you to find a little adventure today if you could. Let me know how it goes. I always love a good story. As always, thank you for taking your precious time to read this. It really means alot. I hope it helps to get your wheels turning. Until next time, I hope you have a wonderful day!
